Olveston CEVC Primary School
Community Links
Olveston is a small community village and as such, we as a school, feel it is very important to maintain the links to the whole community. It is essential to the growth and development of our school, the pupils and the community to encourage links within the community and between the generations.
With this in mind, we have encouraged the children to take a more pro-active approach to maintaining these links in the form of singing and tea parties.
Afternoon Tea with Daldry Gardens
Following the success and enjoyment of the singing at Daldry Gardens, year 4 decided to invite the residents of Daldry Gardens to come to the school, share an afternoon tea (planned and prepared and made by year 4) and to wow them with more of their beautiful singing.
The children prepared what they were going to serve, made the sandwiches, scones and cakes, constructed menu cards, decorated the table clothes and practices the songs they would sing. They then proceeded to serve the drinks to our visitors before finally sitting down to join them with the refreshments and conversations.
Another wonderful afternoon building community links; enjoyed by all.
"I liked the wow day for
space because we thought the school had been
burgled but it was all about our space topic and I liked learning about the planets we saw in space and the stuff on the ground looked like it was from a spaceship."
Year 2
Singing at Daldry Gardens.
The children from Year 4 went along to join the residents of Daldry gardens at their morning tea time to sing them some songs. They sang three songs and then came back for an encore at the end. After singing, the children joined the residents for a cup of tea / juice and a slice of cake.
A thoroughly enjoyable morning for all those involved!
