Olveston CEVC Primary School
Head's Welcome
I feel extremely proud and privileged to be Head teacher of a bubbly, learning rich community. When I became Head teacher in June 2012, my vision was a simple one - to create a school where children have a love of learning, where expectations are high but more importantly every child and adult is valued as an individual; each recognised for their uniqueness. During their time with us, interests and talents will be developed. For our children, our goal is that they leave us with 'the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence'. They will be empowered to live their own lives and have resilience to face a rapidly changing world.
Olveston CEVC Primary School is a village school which over the years is proud to have retained its character. The school has strong links with our local church - St. Mary's, which ensures that the school remains at the heart of village life. We are a Christian community; happy, welcoming and caring and our children understand that mistakes are part of getting it right and sometimes you need to forgive and try again.
At present we are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School. We are developing our curriculum so that we can help our children understand global citizenship. All our topics start from a local perspective and then develop into a national and then global viewpoint.
Teaching staff at Olveston CEVC Primary School are dedicated to providing creative yet purposeful learning experiences which are steered by the children - pupil voice is at the centre of decision making; greater ownership, greater engagement.
We pride ourselves in developing very good relationships with our parents and families. We believe that children learn best when parents and school work together in partnership.
